World Bank’s MENA Transition Fund Improves Viability and Effectiveness of Reporting System

We designed and operationalized a harmonized results framework for the MENA Transition Fund.

Sustainable economic growth requires strong governance and effective public institutions. Following the Arab Spring, the World Bank engaged Momentus (formerly IFCL) to provide a results framework for the myriad activities being supported by the MENA Transition Fund.

The Fund supports the transformation currently underway in several MENA countries, focusing on technical cooperation to strengthen governance and public institutions and foster sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

We designed and operationalized a results framework for the fund on an ex-post basis. We focused on improving the viability and effectiveness of the existing reporting system, including a harmonized framework that avoided imposing significant administrative, operational and financial resource burdens on the fund and its beneficiaries. The higher-level indicators we established can be aggregated to provide information on portfolio performance to better inform relevant decision making.
