To find solutions in filling the USD 4.2 trillion funding gap for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) approached Momentus (formerly IFCL) to develop this report. It is a deep dive into the global financial landscape to find solutions through the lens of developing countries’ Integrated National Financing Frameworks (INFFs). The solutions offered herein focus on improving coherence and alignment of the development finance instruments and players required to optimize and increase the flow of development capital.
We lay out how to shift the 1.1 percent of total financial assets held by banks, institutional investors or asset managers (USD 4.2 trillion) to fill the funding gap for meeting the SDGs.
