Canada’s export credit agency, Export Development Canada (EDC), plays a crucial role in ensuring that the country’s exporters are able to do business all around the world. As such, it was important to review whether the institution’s activities reflected best practices, achieved its mandate, mitigated risk, and ensured that exporters are able to maximize their reach.
Global Affairs Canada (GAC) retained Momentus (formerly IFCL) to undertake a 10-year review of EDC. We assessed the institution from the dimensions of governance, strategic alignment, operations, capitalization, risk management, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) practices, product relevance and efficiency, reviewing it against the legislative, regulatory and policy framework of the Export Development Act. This review ensured EDC’s capacity to keep pace with the competitive demands of international trade.
