Senior Manager

The Senior Manager will perform a multi-faceted role in the growth of Momentus Global’s advisory business. The successful candidate will have experience working within the international development finance ecosystem, with advanced project management skills in writing, analysis and managing complexity for multi-faceted assignments. Relationship management is critical to manage a diverse set of clients as well as mentor and guide a strong and capable group of consultants, both core and external. The individual is a motivated self-starter, continuously cultivating an ability to identify, communicate and develop practical and innovative solutions.

The Senior Manager will play a critical role in managing a portfolio of projects, in support of the Management team.  This includes supporting and refining systems, processes and policies to enhance Momentus Global’s project management capabilities.  The individual will be committed to working in a team environment and providing leadership to ensure client expectations are met and exceeded. Matching talent, resources and strategy to client needs is essential. Key to success will be delivering the highest quality products for clients, on time and on budget.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will be a senior hands-on consultant and project manager who brings entrepreneurial drive, significant industry background, an established network, and ideally global experience, with the following background and experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience in consulting, international development, or project management.
  • Demonstrated success growing and leading expert teams on projects of international scope and impact.
  • High level of technical consulting and communications skill and ability to model the standard of project work expected by all Project Managers.
  • A strong track record in delivering exceptional client service by maximizing results and driving high performance from people, while fostering collaboration in a global team.
  • Proven ability to develop quality, client-ready deliverables – capable of ensuring that the output reaches Momentus Global’s high quality standards.
  • Strong people skills and ability to manage multiple relationships and build trust and capacity around them.
  • Advanced organizational and management skills to coordinate and direct the talent, process, and expertise needed for any project, regardless of the scope and complexity.
  • Experience and comfort working with, operating at, and delivering to senior client stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and understanding of one or more thematic areas such as climate finance, development finance, trade/export finance or ESG is an asset.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite tools like Word, PowerPoint, Excel.

Core Areas of Accountability: 

  1. Project Management
    • Lead and manage a portfolio of projects across geographies, to meet the highest quality and standards and serve as a trusted advisor to clients.
    • Provide strategic direction on projects by effectively leveraging existing internal expertise and external consultants for the benefit of clients and projects.
    • Lead in organizing the project within timelines that meet client expectations and support effective work plan development while managing internal budget requirements.
    • Organize and motivate teams throughout the project lifecycle, managing consultant relationships and performance and providing onboarding and support as needed
    • Provide oversight on opportunities and risks within the assigned portfolio and individual projects.  Identify issues and develop action plans and solutions to address constraints and bottlenecks
  2. Project Delivery
    • Provide strong technical and strategic input on projects and key deliverables, to serve as an internal technical lead on related areas of knowledge.
    • Utilize technical knowledge, research and analysis to innovate, design, structure, format and prepare high quality outputs and deliverables.
    • Organize inputs from internal and external consultants, review and provide feedback on quality of technical content and support project teams to enhance deliverables.
    • Provide review and quality assurance on all key project deliverables to ensure they meet Momentus Global’s standards.
  3. Contract and Financial Management
    • Negotiate client contracts and opportunities with guidance from the executive oversight and other support teams on projects.
    • Negotiate external consultant work orders and sub-contracts with support from the Corporate and Finance teams.
    • Manage project budgets to ensure profitability, ensuring timely invoicing and submission of high-quality deliverables on time and within budget.
    • Work alongside the Finance Team to regularly track and report on results against expected targets and revenue by project and across the assigned portfolio.
  4. Team Engagement
    • Actively participate in weekly Project Meetings, reviewing workload and addressing issues and risks as they arise.
    • In collaboration with the Corporate Development and Operations Director, supervise and mentor consultants in career development and project execution including regular check-ins and quarterly and annual feedback sessions.
    • Demonstrate and champion core values and related behaviors across all aspects of team interactions and project execution.
    • Contribute to broader staff capacity building efforts including developing learning labs, tools and templates.
  5. Business Development
    • Work with the Business Development (BD) team, conduct regular and consistent review of business development tenders (EOIs, RFPs, etc.) where needed.
    • Develop and expand existing network of clients and consultants and support the BD team in identification of new business development opportunities.
    • Support development of strategic proposals and pitch-decks to potential clients or for follow-on project work
    • Support broader business development opportunities, such as identification of new clients, conferences or other profile events.
    • Identify areas of interest in strategic business development and work with the Management Team on outreach and development of key lines of business.
    • Enhance Momentus Global’s thought leadership and positioning through development of articles/blogs and representation at key forums.
  6. Key Relationships and Interactions
    • Directly reports to Director, Projects and for specific projects, reports to other members of the Management Team in their capacity as Team Leader.
    • Key collaborators: Projects unit, Business Development unit, Corporate Development unit, Finance unit, Marketing and Communications unit.
    • Key external interactions: clients, external technical experts (consultants), partners and sub-contractors.

  • Work Hours: Full time.
  • Office Arrangement: Fully remote with targeted international travel anticipated.
