Women-owned micro and small businesses are the heartbeat of many local economies, often dramatically so in emerging and underserved markets. Understanding this, the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), and its strategic partners, helps support the Microinsurance Catastrophe Risk Organization (MiCRO) to provide parametric insurance to women microcredit clients in Haiti.
CDB engaged Momentus (formerly IFCL) to determine the overall impact of the programme, which leverages existing financing arrangements in Haiti and other Latin American countries.
We conducted a comprehensive multi-stakeholder evaluation focused on the perspectives of development impact and financial sustainability. Our recommendations were designed to ensure philosophical and strategic alignment of the programme.
This project included a field mission to Haiti and Barbados, stakeholder engagement strategy, interviews, and consultations in the US, UK, Ukraine, and South Africa. We conducted a root-cause analysis and evaluation as well, to inform the evaluation report with findings.
