Business Development Associate
The Business Development Associate will report to and support the Executive Advisor in business development activities that support the company’s plan and ambitions for growth. They will work with the Business Development (BD) team throughout the business development cycle from proactive business development activities to opportunity tracking to proposal development (EOI, RFP, RFI) and submission. In managing key proposals, they will provide coordination, administrative and technical support, and support other team members working on relevant business development topics.
The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and strong writing and analytical capabilities, is proactive and organized, and able to work independently at times with minimal supervision to deliver against deadlines.
Core Areas of Accountability and Responsibility:
1. Business Development
- Works collaboratively within the Business Development team and ensures they have the information, feedback, and resources to be successful;
2. Procurement, Lead Development and BD Pipeline
- Maintains a viable and active business development pipeline;
- Coordinates, reviews and maintains access to client opportunities from procurement websites locally and internationally.
- Coordinates and evaluates proactive BD opportunities through Momentus Global’s referral network or leads provided by other Momentus Global consultants and team members;
- Tracks and updates key relevant information on our management systems related to upcoming opportunities, live proposals and results of submissions
3. BD Proposal Management
Leads the preparation of Expression of Interests (EOIs) and proposals (RFIs, RFPs), collaborating with the BD team and assigned Projects team to determine technical inputs and overall approach to BD proposals and presentations;
- Creates efficiency by proactively managing the EOI and proposal planning process and coordination with team members by defining roles and responsibilities, timelines, and clear action plans to meet deadlines;
- Ensures compliance with client rules/RFPs and delivery of high-quality content through a robust quality assurance process and when required, asks qualified external technical resources for a quality review of EOIs and proposals
- In coordination with the BD team, provides assessments and recommendations on tenders and proactive BD opportunities;
- Leads or supports development of key pitch-decks, concept notes and presentations to potential clients;
- Drives continuous improvement in our existing BD systems, processes and tools;
- Supports ongoing prospective client follow up and relationship development to sustain their interest over a long selling cycle;
- Upon securing the business, ensures full communication and hand-off to the Project team for delivery of the engagement to completion, debriefing milestones and outcomes.
4. Corporate contribution
- Supports the business development strategy and annual business planning efforts including strategizing on annual revenue targets, new business and client opportunities, annual work plan and resource planning;
- Supports the development and enhancement of new business development tools including training materials, templates and guides to enhance staff capacity and quality of proposals. Activities should be in line with market trends and best practices;
- Coordinates and actively participates in Momentus Global’s weekly team meetings and one-on-one video calls/in-person meetings with team members to keep apprised of project status and operational developments that may impact business development and marketing initiatives;
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree plus at least 3-5 years of relevant international development, consulting or corporate experience.
- Experience with managing, responding and success with tendering and RFP processes.
- Existing knowledge related to international development and clients such as multi-lateral development banks, development finance institutions, development agencies (e.g. UN) and climate change funds a strong asset.
- BD experience with international development organizations highly desirable.
- Knowledgeable in international finance, climate change, trade facilitation, monitoring and evaluation a plus.
- Excellent relationship, interpersonal and team building skills.
- Excellent writing and business analysis skills.
- Excellent planning, attention to detail, time management skills and strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
- Ability to multi-task with ease, adapting to frequently changing priorities.
- Ability to work efficiently under deadlines and maintain quality, detail and organization across multiple assignments.
- Ability to coordinate and work effectively with a remote team, building strong cross-functional relationships across the organization
- Fluency in English. Fluency in French, Spanish or another language a plus.

- Work Hours: Full time.
- Office Arrangement: Fully remote with targeted international travel anticipated.
